Comprehensive brand development for the SOCIAM research programme

The brief

SOCIAM was a five-year, £6m programme led by the Universities of Southampton, Oxford and Edinburgh, with the aim to build both theory and practice to enable the creation of the next generation of Social Machines. We were asked to develop a brand and visual identity for the programme and manage the media and social media engagement during its launch and first year.

Our response

A brand and content plan, delivered across online and offline channels, weaving SOCIAM themes and messages into a wide range of media engagements, including activity with broadsheet newspapers and premium broadcast media.

The outcome

More than 100 pieces of media coverage in a range of publications consumed by the target audiences – 100% of coverage was either positive or neutral in sentiment. Heightened awareness in terms of the understanding of social machines, measured by key message pick-up.
