Future Cities Catapult
Creating digital content packages to share knowledge with industry, demonstrate cutting edge research and generate business leads
We were tasked by the Open University to manage the launch of their new learning platform, FutureLearn, which is the first UK-led platform for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) from multiple top-ranking universities.
We became an extension of the team in the months running up to the launch, with involvement across key areas of the business, from advising the CEO on branding and reputation, to setting procedures for suppliers and quality assurance.
We developed a communication strategy and messaging framework, created content for the pre-launch website, managed key stakeholder relationships, working closely with the OU’s in-house communication team, recruited permanent staff members and managed the procurement of a consumer PR agency.

At the launch of the platform we helped secure over 100 pieces of high-value press coverage, including the FT, Economist, Times Higher Education and Tech Crunch. Working with senior management, we built an in-house communication team, and with it a solid foundation to grow.
