Digital technology is vital to the future of all businesses in the UK, and as an agency at the cutting edge of STEM technology Allegory was delighted to attend the Mayor of Greater Manchester’s Digital and Tech Summit (#GMDigital) on 6 July and join a growing community of universities, public sector leaders, tech companies and voluntary groups to learn more about – and contribute to – plans for the digital economy in the region.

Greater Manchester’s Mayor, Andy Burnham, wants the region to be at the forefront of the digital economy, with technology meeting culture, creativity and communities to create not just a smart city, but the smartest city.

It is a bold vision that all regions should share as we move towards Industry 4.0. Advances in data, smart technology and better communication will all play a part in the industrial ecosystems of tomorrow, and digital transformation is now underway.

Manchester is already making great strides according to a new Innovation Index published by our clients the Open Data Institute and the Digital Catapult. An online interactive map shows that Manchester is already the third most active tech innovation community in the UK behind London and Edinburgh, with strong performances across all sectors.
